Celebrating the OE Global Awards 2024
This week's OE Gobal Awards were an exciting event for everyone in Open Education, and this year's list of nominees was HUGE! In fact, in 2024 the Open Awards for Excellence received 120 nominations from people in 29 different countries.
The eagle-eyed amongst you may spot that we at Reclaim Hosting threw our hat into the ring this year, sharing our work all about Reclaiming our Socials as part of the nomination process. Although unfortunately our entry wasn't short-listed for an award (better luck next time!), we were greatly inspired to see all the individuals and projects who did make it... and we send our congratulations to all nominees and winners this year! You rock!
Special Congratulations go to...
Amongst the worthy winners is long-time collaborator Bryan Mathers' and his Fabulous Remixer Machine! Bryan won the Open Reuse / Remix / Adaptation Award this year and we are so excited to see his work recognised! Congrats, Bryan, from everyone at Reclaim!
If you haven't come across his wonderful project yet, get inspiration from these quotes from the award reviewers:
It’s rare for someone with such a talent for drawing and illustration to make their work available so openly and freely. As Bryan also has a background in Computer Science, it’s almost unheard of for someone to create something so unique across the technical/artistic divide!
Also recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award was Emeritus Professor Martin Weller, Open University, UK, whose influential blog The Ed Techie is one of the most popular blogs hosted on Reclaim's infrastructure, and we are proud to see Martin's huge contribution to our field recognised:
Martin Weller’s impact on and contributions to open education over his career at the Open University and ongoing in his post retirement era are here recognized by the OEGlobal Board of Directors with a Lifetime Achievement award.
A big Hip Hip Hurrraaay from Team Reclaim and congrats to you, Martin!
We hope that like us you find plenty of inspiration as you explore this year's winners .
Finally, big kudos to Alan Levine and everyone at OE Global for putting together such a wonderful celebration of all things open!
