Warp Speed Shared Hosting

The web and its impact on the real world has grown significantly since its inception in the early 90s. While there have been a number of positive developments that have undoubtedly improved the lives of countless people which we can attribute to this growth, there are plenty of negative developments it has brought too. The internet has enabled mass surveillance, centralization around a few services threatens digital independence, and generation of content specifically made to get reactions and erode our mental health rather than inform. It's no wonder that many people look back to the early web – when its future was full of nothing but possibilities – with nostalgia and wish to go back. We at Reclaim Hosting are among those many. I mean, seriously; look at our whole aesthetic! It's retro all the way down.

For the longest time, however, that's all it has been: purely aesthetic. VHS tapes and vinyl records and teal desktop backgrounds are cool and all, but we traded spinning disks for solid state drives long ago. But all of that changes now.

We're going back. At WARP SPEED!

Today, Reclaim Hosting is proud to announce the next generation of our shared hosting offering: WARP HOSTING. Over the coming months, we'll be moving all of our customers to servers running OS/2 WARP (the premier operating system of 1994).

That's right, we're bringing the LAMP Stack (back) to the 20th century!

We sincerely believe that this decision is in the best interest of not only Reclaim Hosting as a company, but every one of our customers as well. OS/2 is a better Windows than Windows and a better DOS than DOS after all, so what's not to love?

This change should have little impact on users who have upgraded to newer 28.8k modems. If you are still using a 14.4k modem we suggest reaching out to your dial-up provider as slower speeds may be incompatible with WARP SPEED SHARED HOSTING. Good luck if you use AOL.

If you have any questions or concerns about this upcoming change, please reach out to us via electronic mail or IRC and we will be happy to assist you!
