Welcome

Join us tomorrow, 7/15, for Reclaim's Rewind << Summer Education 2026. At the end of the academic year there's often not much time to pause, reflect and celebrate what's been achieved before moving on to the next thing. So we invite you to use this event as an opportunity to take a moment and look back at the best bits of 2026 to date.

How to take part

This event is self-guided and available on demand. There's no set timetable, so you can explore the agenda at your own pace. Here's how:

1. Bookmark the Event Playlist for easy access to all session recordings.
2. Join the Discord Community to chat with fellow participants.
3. Connect with us on MastodonBluesky and YouTube.

Whether you are looking for fresh inspiration, practical tips or innovative ideas for the next academic year, Reclaim Rewind << is for you.
Let's dive in!

Agenda

All things open!

We're starting the day with a look back at Wikipedia @ 25: Knowledge is Human, featuring Special Guests Lorna Campbell and Autumm Caines. Much of our work happens on the open web, and other than maybe WordPress there is no other tool or platform that our community uses more than Wikipedia.

We're staying with the open theme for the next one, which we recorded during Open Education Week: ILTA Conference Preview with Kate Molloy and Rob Lowney.

If these sessions inspire you, there's plenty more to explore:

Take a moment to share something from your own practice, whether it's a resource, a blog post, or a podcast, and post it in Discord.

Take a Retro Tech break

One of the things that inspires us is taking a deep dive into retro tech! We even have a dedicated podcast as part of the new Reclaim Podcast Network, celebrating all things Retro Tech and this episode features Jim and Taylor having a lot of fun with some RetroTink-ering:

For a little more retro inspiration, we invite you to read this post by Taylor, who takes you on A Backwoods CMS Adventure:

A Backwoods CMS Adventure
Tired of your same old CMS? Maybe take a small vacation from it and try this out. I’ll be your trail guide for this rustic web authoring adventure. While this is a vacation and it will have its charms, we will be roughing it, so be prepared to explore this

For a different kind of inspiration, tune in to this episode of our "On Writing" podcast, featuring special guest Laura Hilliger:

What's inspired YOU in the first half of the year? Share it with us in Discord.

All the hits!

When we put together the program for this event, we took at look at our most popular sessions from the past six months. These sessions focus on some of the biggest topics in open educational technology starting with accessibility, scaling up technology deployment and finding sustainable solutions.

This session led by Alexis and Taylor was top of the list for most of our community this year, and we had so much demand that Alexis put together a series of blog posts with all the resources, too.

Special Guest Ed Beck helped us shine a light on how open edtech solutions move from experiment to enterprise level service, and brought our case study of the SUNY Oneonta OpenLab to life.

With more and bigger digital platforms and services, long-term stewardship of digital estates is a key question for Higher Ed professionals. An essential aspect of preservation is thinking about how to flatten, or archive dynamic sites that are no longer going to be updated, to make sure they continue to be accessible! In this session we shared tips and tools to help you archive content and preserve sites for the long haul.
